Evolution and Biodiversity in the Antarctic (EBA)
|
The biodiversity database holds Antarctic and subantarctic flora and fauna in support of the SCAR Life Sciences programme
Evolution and Biodiversity in the Antarctic (EBA)
for 2006-2013.
EBA will explore
|
EBA is the follow on project from the now finished Regional Sensitivity to Climate Change in Antarctic terrestrial and limnetic ecosystems (RiSCC) project. This database will focus on the Terrestrial and Limnetic domains.
If there is any data (checklists, observations for new or existing collections) that should be present in this database, or corrections to existing taxa or observations,

Search for data - by position, measurement type
Given two or more species or families - return the places where they are commonly occur
Given two or more places - return species that are common to those places
Custodian access: Observer login for

Bioregions
The terrestrial areas of the Antarctic and Subantarctic are being classified into regions for comparing biodiversity and patterns of distribution.

EBA Listserver
The EBA Listserver at eba@lists.aad.gov.au is used to allow members to contribute and receive messages. You must have valid registered email address in order to send emails.
To subscribe to this new list, please contact the Data Centre using the feedback form and mention the EBA list server.
Publishing observations to external organisations
The Data Centre has been sending biological distribution data via the Darwin Core schema using Distributed Genric Information Retrieval (DiGIR) query protocol to GBIF and OBIS since December 2003. The data is now also being aggregated at SCAR-MarBIN, which as of May 2006, has being recognised as the Antarctic regional node of OBIS. As at June 2008, the Data Centre contribution is over 750,000 records.
See the list of published data collections with observation counts.
